The National Treasury Employees Union, NTEU, which represents the IRS employees who harassed and delayed tea party and conservative groups, has come out against the proposal to put federal workers into exchange-based health insurance.

Fancy that: the people in charge of deciding whether you go into an exchange, and who decided it doesn’t matter whether your state doesn’t want one, don’t want to be in one themselves.

As Jeffrey Lord of The American Spectator points out (hat tip, American Thinker),

With the IRS assuming serious police powers of Obamacare, in effect the members of one left-wing labor union will have access to the private health care records of every single American.

While it’s fine to investigate whether President Obama and higher ups at Treasury knew about or even ordered the IRS to harass conservatives and slow-walk their applications, Congress should investigate whether the NTEU members colluded.

“I was surprised and then I was angry,” said one protestor.

IRS officials have acknowledged that some conservative groups were targeted for extra scrutiny.

Protestor Mike Madia says the IRS’ actions are unacceptable.

I couldn’t believe it. What really made it come home to me. This isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s an intrusion into your life.”

Some waved flags, others held signs.

“They say it’s not illegal but it certainly should be. It’s against our constitution and against everything we stand for,” said Lorraine Madia.

The IRS protests in Downers Grove had between 175 and 200 people in attendance (Pictures below). The event was held at the corner of Esplanade and Butterfield Dr. since that was busier than directly in front of the IRS offices. Several police were there to direct traffic. What surprised many was a Homeland Security vehicle came past the protest twice. As you can see from the picture, the vehicle had tinted windows so we are unsure if there were any cameras inside. Were pictures taken of the attendees? Will any of the attendees now be further targeted by the IRS or Homeland Security?

Chicago, IL – Illinois Tea Party, and the Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, announced a series of protests across the country, which will take place at local IRS offices today, May 21, 2013 at noon local time. The protests are in response to the IRS’s admission that the agency has engaged in systemic harassment and targeting of conservative organizations. For the past three years, the IRS has been targeting Tea Party Patriots and other conservative tax-exempt organizations for additional scrutiny, and has singled these organizations out for audits and invasive reviews of their tax-exempt applications.

“The IRS has demonstrated the most disturbing, illegal and outrageous abuse of government power,” said Denise Cattoni, Founder of Illinois Tea Party.

Illinois Tea Party will be protesting outside many local IRS offices including Chicago, Downers Grove, Rockford, and Springfield, today, Tuesday, May 21st at 12:00 pm. Everyone who is interested in reining in the IRS’s unchecked power is welcome to join the protest.

“We demand the immediate termination or resignation of all complicit in this activity and insist Congress investigate to determine if legal charges must be brought against those involved.”

The IRS targeted Illinois conservative groups for ‘special investigation’ while giving tax free status to left-leaning groups quickly.  We need to let OUR IRS public servants know that TYRANNY is not acceptable.

Denise Cattoni, founder of Illinois Tea Party, tells Charles Thomas from Channel 7, “The targeting by the IRS to average American people who wanted to get involved in promoting ‘making America a better place’ is chilling and Un-American.  It definitely was abuse by the IRS.”

FOX19 has exclusively learned that as many as four people may be the first Cincinnati Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees to face disciplinary action, and possibly even criminal charges, for allegedly targeting Tea Party and Liberty groups applying for non-profit status.

In addition, acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller resigned his position, revealed by President Obama on Wednesday.

“Secretary Lew took the first step by requesting and accepting the resignation of the acting commissioner of the IRS, because given the controversy surrounding this audit, it’s important to institute new leadership that can help restore confidence going forward,” said President Obama in a statement on Wednesday evening.

Prior to his resignation, Steven Miller called the two Cincinnati employees ‘rogue’ and ‘off the reservation,’ adding that they were ‘overly aggressive’ in handling the requests from those conservative groups over the past two years.

Miller also added that those two employees have already been ‘disciplined’ by the agency.

However, despite the claim of just two employees being involved, FOX19 has exclusively learned from two separate sources that there could be at least four Cincinnati employees involved.

Those four employees, whose names we have chosen to withhold until they have been officially confirmed, have each worked in the IRS Exempt Organizations Department.

This is the same department that has admitted publicly to sending letters to Tea Party and other conservative organizations.

FOX19 has also confirmed those four Cincinnati employees made large requests of information from:

• The Richmond, Virginia Tea Party in January of 2012.
• The Ohio Liberty Council in January of 2012..
• Dan Backer, a lawyer based in Washington D.C. who helped six small conservative groups apply for 501c4 status in February of 2012.
• The Liberty Township Tea Party in March of 2012.

One of FOX19′s two sources went on say that these four IRS workers claim “they simply did what their bosses ordered.” FOX19 reported on Tuesday that the report by the Office of Inspector General states that senior IRS officials knew agents were targeting Tea Party groups as early as 2011.

Breitbart News has obtained an exclusive video of Attorney General Eric Holder flatly rejecting the idea of appointing a special counsel to investigate Benghazi. 

Filmed on May 15 and provided to Breitbart News by Special Operations Speaks, the video shows Holder emerge from his car and walk towards the Rayburn House Office Building for hearings on the IRS scandal. Holder is clearly asked, “Mr. Holder, will you appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Benghazi?”

In equally clear tones, Holder answers, “No,” and disappears into the building.
