DUCKWORTH, DAVIS WALK OUT ON TESTIMONY FROM BENGHAZI VICTIM’S FAMILIES

Illinois Review

WASHINGTON – Two Illinois Democrats were among the dozen Democrat House members that left Thursday’s Oversight Committee hearing to avoid testimony from family members of those Americans murdered last September during the September 11, 2012 U.S. embassy attack.

Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) and Danny Davis (IL-07) were present during the hearing’s first panel to hear Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Admiral Michael Mullen, but according to the spokesman for Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa (CA-) Duckworth and Davis were among the 14 Democrats that left just before the second panel commenced.

Chairman Issa tweeted a picture showing the vacant Democrat chairs. Only Representatives Jackie Speier (Calif.) and ranking member Elijah Cummings (Md.) stayed for the second panel to hear testimony from Patricia Smith, mother of Sean Smith, an information management officer, and Charles Woods, father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods.
